Alanis came into my life again..

I think people comes into our lives for a reason, I have been aware of Alanis since 1995 but it was only in 2007 I actual started hearing her messages. In 2007 something made me start listening to her songs and this time I paid attention. I also started reading past articles about her and listening to past interviews she had given, it was as if something turned me on to her so that some of the questions I had can be answered, so that I can feel less alone since my thoughts and ideas were dissimilar from most of the people I meet. It was as if she was sent to let me know I am not alone and that I must not be afraid to share my thoughts and feelings.

Yesterday I got a reminder from Alanis letting fans know that she was to be interviewed live for the women on the edge of evolution web seminars. It was to start at 2pm and since I had a Redcross training from 8:30 pm to 4:30 pm, I was going to miss it, so I told her I will catch it later... But as life intervened at 1:37 pm I was done with the training, so instead of going to get gas and to the mall as planned I headed home.

Half way home I saw that my car was running very low on gas, so I went to get gas instead, all the while freaking out that I was going to miss the start.. I finally made it home around 2.03. Upon entering the building I heard Alanis' voice, her song Ironic was on the radio, I got in the elevator and headed to my apartment.

I turned on my computer, clicked on the weblink but I could not find the seminar, still panicking, I saw that I had to re-register, luckily I did because I received a confirmation within seconds, so then I called and joined in. While checking out the emailed I received from the organizers I saw that Alanis was going to speak for one hour and that there was going to be a 30mins question session in which the audience can text in a message or press #2 to speak, I decided to text because I was too afraid to speak to her..

When the question potion started they went to the phone first and then online but mine was not asked, something told me to stop being a chicken and call, so I pressed #2 and waited.. 6 minutes towards the end my text question had not been read and I was not called upon to speak, so I got online and started iming a friend (also an Alanis fan)trying to keep from getting upset for not being called.. then suddenly i heard Albany you are on..

omg it was incredible and scary...It was meant to be.

You can listen to the call below, mine was the last question taken. If you do not want to here the whole seminar, download the audio and skip to the end to here my question and her response.

Alanis Essay on Feminism…Here is a link to Alanis Morissette latest essay, this one is on feminism, I would comment on how well written it is but I don’t expect anything less from her, she makes some great points.

http://www.spinner.com/2010/04/21/alanis-morissette-feminism-essay. Alanis Essay on Feminism…Here is a link to Alanis Morissette latest essay, this one is on feminism, I would comment on how well written it is but I don’t expect anything less from her, she makes some great points."
I especially love this point(2) "I was crestfallen to see that even this exchange was subject to the very thing that I believe disempowers us as women and men alike: our viewing this movement in an overly personal and proprietary way. And that the very qualities that created the need for the feminist call to arms to begin with -- separatism, competition, ego, etc. -- were being exhibited within the very movement itself! Ah! Real irony!"

The sentiment in the above quote one reason why I had personally pull away from that movement or being called a feminist, the all about me and what I did for you does not sit well with me when people assume you are not appreciative .. it is difficult to toot someone’s horn when they are already tooting it very loud..

I just want to add that most of the women I admire were feminists a long time before the Gloria Steinem era mentioned, so to the lady she mentioned in the article, I support Alanis in saying that we should celebrate everyone women who as stood up and fought for women’s right; I want to give a personal shout out to all those women past, and present who are not afraid to seek out opportunities that allows them to be their authentic self, women who are not afraid to speak against injustice, and women who support other women in their right to make a contribution to the world as they seem fit, not as others demands.

Bon Chance!

Does your body wake up in bits?

Does your body wake up in bits?
This morning I realized mine does. First my brain wakes up leaving the rest of my body heavy. This realization helps me understands my Sleep paralysis episodes much more. For you who don’t know, sleep paralysis is, it is a sleep disorder in which your brain wakes up before you body and during this moment sufferers feel as if they are paralyze.
Today when I woke up, I was lying on my tummy, when my alarm went off my lower extremities felt heavier than my upper but consciously I felt awake and alert, so I hit the snooze button. After a few minutes I could move my midsection with ease, but my legs were still heavy, I hit the snooze again, final before the snooze went off again I was able to turn to my side and with my leg feeling light, I got up..
what a consciousness.

my former mentor

If you were wondering how did my mentorship go or how it is going, please don't, it did not go anywhere. The first time I spoke to her was the last time we spoke, she became too busy to return calls and respond to emails..
c'est la vie!
P.S if you are thinking of mentoring someone please check you schedule and make sure you have the time..

not giving up... I dont believe I wrote this

Some people are born luckier than others, some have to work harder than others to achieve success, some will face more adversites than others and all the praying in the world will not change this. The most we can ask for when we pray is the strength and courage to get through whatever road we are meant to travel. Everyone whether lucky or unlucky, wealthy or poor will face their share of challenges and joys, so we must be mindful when we compare ourselves to others because what one person sees as a success can be seen as a failure to another. I now can support the notion of counting our blessings because when times are tough and we feel like giving up we need proof that good times does exists for us.

Boston part 2

Overrall, the trip was a welcome change, sadly I lost my belt to my newest trench.

Here is what I wrote for my french teacher.. sending it out for correction so forgive me..

Boston part 1

Woke up in Boston this morning a bit tipsy from yesterday's soiree. Yesterday started as usual with me not really wanting to go to work but going because I have bills to pay and debt to clear. The day got better when I got into my car to make the 3 hour drive to Boston, and of course I had Alanis with me the whole time, her songs were a great help to me as I drove in the rain.

After nearly finishing a bottle of wine, my friend and I headed out to dinner and then to a bar to celebrate someone's birthday.. On my way to the restaurant I nearly lost my leg as I tripped but luckily landed squat style thanks to my awesome boots.
The bar was crowed but we had a great time, we danced and drank, I got to fiddling with the base player's guitar during a live set, and I met a guy who wanted to dance the night away avec moi but said I had to leave.

Maureen Dowd - op ed 4-410 is hilarious and so on the post.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/04/opinion/04dowd.html?src=me&ref=opinion

Check out this opinion piece written by Maureen Dowd for the New York Times in which she commented on the Vatican's response to the current crisis facing the Catholic Church...

Now we can all use the" the devil made me do it" excuse when we comment heinous crimes. These people are unbelievable. And the comparison of anti-semiticism and the current criticism of the Vatican's handling of the alleged rape cases is downright pathetic if you ask me.

Today I learned a little more about PI

http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/04/take-it-to-the-limit/?hp
Check out this interested article in the New York time, it talks about how Archimedes figured out the numerical value of PI, I wished that I had this information while studying geometry and calculus, I probably would not have gave up on math after cal 3.. The approach to calulating dimensions so circle makes so much more sense to me now.. ah
